According to a December 20, 2006 post on Eurekalert.org, a recent study published in the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery and Psychiatry suggests that Botulinum toxin, more commonly known as Botox, is an effective treatment of Writer's Cramp.
Wikipedia.org defines Writer's cramp as "a form of cramp or spasm that affects certain muscles of the hand and fingers as a result of excessive fine motor activity like writing or playing the piano. It is referred to medically as task-specific focal dystonia of the hand."
Side effects reported by those taking part in the study included pain at the injection site and muscle weakness.
