You know how you're always hearing all the things you shouldn't do if you want to live longer, like don't drink too much, don't eat too much, don't sit around too much? Well, here's something you'll be happy to hear you SHOULD do: have MORE sex. More and more scientific evidence is supporting what most of us figured way earlier than our parents wanted us to: good sex improves your health and may even contribute to your longevity. Sex releases specific hormones in the body, relieves stress, and helps fight loneliness and depression. But a recent study actually showed a correlation between a reduction in deaths from coronary heart disease and increased sexual activity. And we're not talking about sexual athletes - just one or two orgasms per week can increase life expectancy by 3-8 years. In his book called "Sexual Healing," Dr. Paul Pearsall, Director of Behavioral Medicine at Detroit's Beaumont Hospital, writes that the joys and pleasures of living life and loving may provide us with something called an "intimacy inoculation" that actually protects us from disease. Dr. Pearsall says that "Growing numbers of physicians now recognize that the health of the human heart depends not only on such factors as genetics, diet, and exercise, but also -to a large extent- on the social and emotional health of the individual." And that means happily getting your rocks off! If that seems like an elusive goal, or if you're just looking for a kick-start now and then, never fear. The next generation of sex toys brings new meaning to the term "hand-held." Beautiful design, digital controls, technologically advanced - this ain't your grandma's vibrator (thank goodness).
