Stay away from anti-depressants

I've heard a lot about the topic of anti-depressants but one thing that I DO know is that my brother, a molecular biologist, tested the anti-depressents they prescribed for his girlfriend and noticed the levels weren't high enough to do anything. In other words, they were only a placebo...kind of makes me wary...
