Medical Spas Offer Botox in Malls
Published: Friday, December 15, 2006 - 13:52
I've always considered the word "mall" to be among the other four letter words I try not to say much less write about in print. My mother seems to think my "mall issues" stem from eating too many corndogs in the food court as a kid. I blame - among other things - the mid 1980's, when the hot item sold at various mall kiosks were those non-image posters that you had to stare out for hours on end in order for the landscape or portrait to reveal itself. Yep, I'm pretty sure that I wasted a good chunk of my pre-adolescent life trying to "relax my vision" in hopes of seeing something that I'd eventually realize wasn't all that worth seeing in the first place.
Lucky for some, malls these days cater to those far beyond the young, allowance heavy consumer group. According to the Associated Press, Medical Spas at malls in Dallas and Los Angeles are fast becoming the new Gap or Anne Taylor. Personally, I don't think I'll ever get used to hearing people ask, "Hey, you wanna meet at the Med Spa in the mall for a little Botox?" In my head, that will forever be the equivalent of someone saying, "Let's go enjoy a healthy lunch at McDonalds." Lucky for the Med Spa industry, however, most Botox junkies are more than willing to replace shopping and a movie, with shopping and a chemical peel or an injection.
