Eyealike's facial recognition Eyealike's facial recognition

Still searching for the Patrick Dempsey look-alike of your dreams? Haven't gotten over that one ex who was your perfect physical type? Human cloning may be a long way off, but new facial recognition technology is making it possible to find people who resemble your "dream date."

Eyealike, in conjunction with ActiveSymbols, just launched the private beta version of its site this week, and is expected to be licensed to various dating sites which will use the technology to help their clients find their ideal type.

How? Eyealike's facial recognition software scans and indexes facial features like the eyes, nose, mouth, skin tone, and hair texture. The site's goal is to zone in on people who share similar features.

Similar to MyHeritage.com, Eyealike can be used to help users find their own celebrity look-alikes. But what is much more unique - and of interest to those on the market - is its ability to narrow down dating site results according to facial features. Users can upload a photo of their ex or someone embodying their preferred physical type, and Eyealike will compare that person's features to photos in databases belonging to Match.com and American Singles. Rather than having to weed through countless profiles, users get results that are tailored to their specific tastes.

In other words, your ticket to dating the poor man's Brad Pitt is here.
