Breaking news: News anchors get plastic surgery and Botox. Actually, considering the frozen faces you usually see on the nightly news, that's not so surprising-especially now that HDTV is here, ready to zoom in on every tiny wrinkle. (We also suspect they wear booty shorts and knee-high socks behind those desks.) So which news personalities are more "Good Night and Nip/Tuck" than "Good Night and Good Luck"? Read on to get the scoop.

Her CBS ratings may be going down, down, down, but Katie Couric's facial skin seems to be going up, up, up. Proving that it takes more than a perky personality and a clean colon to fight the signs of aging, Couric is the grand dame of Botoxed anchors.

Dr. Anthony Youn of CelebrityCosmeticSurgery.blogspot.com has weighed in on Couric's changed appearance, comparing two video clips. "In the more recent clip you may notice that her forehead doesn't move, her eyebrows are more arched, and she has an almost 'angry' appearance," he notes. "This is not seen in the older video. The older video does show her elevating her eyebrows and creating some wrinkles in her forehead. There are no forehead wrinkles seen in the recent clip. I believe that this recent change is due to what I call the "Botox Brow." Botox can be injected into the forehead and between the eyebrows to remove wrinkles there. While it is very effective in doing this, it can create a side effect of an overly arched eyebrow which can make the person look angry, or sinister. The look does seem to diminish with time. I think she looks better without the Botox."

We agree. And take it easy with the self tanner, Katie.

It's hard to believe that Barbara Walters is pushing 80, and she can probably thank her doctor for that. "She appears to have had her eyelids done (both upper and lower) and a facelift," plastic surgeon Anthony Youn writes on CelebrityCosmeticSurgery.blogspot.com. "Her eyes are free of loose, excess skin, which is extremely unusual for someone her age. Her upper eyelids show especially little sagging skin, and look as young as someone in her 40's. The telltale sign of a facelift is the very good jaw and neckline that she currently has. It's not perfect, but is better than most people older than 55. As the years pass after a facelift the neck skin slowly loosens, and this is likely what we are seeing. She also appears to have had very nice skin care (peels, laser, medical grade skin creams) in addition to Botox."

According to RealSelf.com, Babs has 'fessed up on air to a little Botox use. "If they Botox right around here and put in a little anesthesia, it's fine," she told then-co-host Rosie O'Donnell on an episode of "The View."

Newswoman Greta Van Susteren wasn't exactly babe material-until she jumped ship to Fox News and decided to get a little touch-up before starting her new gig. Van Susteren told People that she had an eye lift to get rid of some under-eye baggage. ""I just did it on a whim. It's the first time since I was 17 that I had a month off and no responsibilities," she says. "I looked at myself and thought, 'God, how did I get to be 47?'"

There has been some speculation that Van Susteren has had more than just a little eye work. "I do believe that she had an endoscopic browlift and Botox injections into her forehead in addition to the eyelid surgery," says Dr. Anthony Youn of CelebrityCosmeticSurgery.blogspot.com. "The eyebrows don't become elevated by just a blepharoplasty. If you see her now, it does appear that her brows have descended somewhat. This is not uncommon with certain endoscopic browlifts."

Lovable "Today Show" weatherman Al Roker has always been a little, as he puts it, "big-boned." So TV audiences were surprised when Roker suddenly started looking somewhat svelte. Turns out Roker, after battling his weight with various diets ("Scarsdale, Atkins, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, you name it, I've done it," he told USA Today), finally bit the bullet and underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2002.

"In this country, if you have an alcohol problem or a drug problem, you can get treatment," says Roker. "If you have a weight problem, it's lack of willpower: 'Just push away from the table, tubby, and you'd lose that weight.' But you can stop drinking, you can stop sticking a needle in your arm. You cannot not eat."

According to "Dateline NBC," Roker had shed 115 pounds by 2004, but he has stressed that the stomach-shrinking surgery itself isn't enough to keep the weight off. "You've still got work," Roker said. "I mean, I still work out, you know, five days a week. I get there 4:30 in morning, and I hate it. I hate it. But, I know that's what I have to do. I mean, my goal is that at some point I'm going to be enough, in really good shape that I will be able to beat my trainer to death and walk away."

New "Good Morning America" weatherman Sam Champion is giving Diane Sawyer a run for her money as ABC's hottest resident blonde. Full blonde locks, a dreamy ultra-white smile, sun-kissed skin...the forecast is always sunny wherever Champion's standing. But c'mon-do we really believe that he hasn't had some help getting that pretty? "How much Botox, teeth whitening, and Mystic Tan can one man take?" asks a Gawker.com commenter. We think it's safe to say that Mr. Perfect has a talented cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist on speed-dial.

Terry Murphy, the former host of "Hard Copy," told People that she had her eyes done in 1990 in order to get rid of allergy-related dark circles. She now works beyond the camera, but says that she'd have to undergo more cosmetic surgery before stepping in front of the camera. "I'll wait until I have the money," she says. Way to be an optimist, Terry!

GoodPlasticSurgery.com has some pretty damning evidence that CBS "Early Show" and "Big Brother" presenter Julie Chen has gone under the knife. In fact, her before and after photos look like two different women! Our hat's off to the surgeon who did her eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty. Says GoodPlasticSurgery.com, "Not only is she on national television, but she snagged the head of the network, Les Moonves. You go girl!" Defamer.com's response? "Julie, no need to surgically erase your heritage for Les! If he wanted to share a bed with a talentless, white CBS reality show host, he'd be 'extinguishing Jeff Probst's fire' behind the Tribal Council set."

It's fair for celebrities to come clean about their cosmetic surgery, but legendary news personality Linda Ellerbee admitted to People that she had excess skin under her chin removed after losing weight. Still, Ellerbee felt that today's female anchors should feel less pressure to have good looks. "Thanks to a lot of people, namely Barbara Walters, maybe myself and a couple other old broads, you no longer have to be young," she says. "It's a small step, but it's progress."

It took four years and a new TV show to promote to get Star Jones-Reynolds to come clean about her gastric bypass surgery (she's also rumored to have had breast augmentation). According to People.com, Jones-Reynolds spilled the beans to Glamour, saying, "First, I didn't know if the surgery would work. I had spent my entire adult life telling everyone that I was fine with the way I looked. I never thought I'd have to explain it. But the complete truth is, I was scared of what people might think of me."

Jones-Reynolds claims to have shed 160 pounds since her surgery, and we have to admit that the former "The View" co-host looks pretty slim these days.

Bonnie Erbe, host of PBS's "To The Contrary" news program, also wins a gold star for honesty. Erbe talked to People about her 1999 facelift, saying, "How we look is part of what we do." Erbe also says that male anchors are just as likely to get cosmetic procedures. "There is an equal-opportunity factor at work these days," she says. "Men are now having to be as concerned about looks as women have always been."

These stars look awfully fresh-faced, but they're not talking. Have they had some work or are they just insanely lucky?

Paula Zahn: Recent photos of Paula Zahn (widely regarded as one of the prettiest female anchors) reveal a seemingly altered, streamlined nose.

Nancy Grace: For a woman pushing 50, Nancy Grace has a fairly smooth, wrinkle-free complexion. That's especially odd considering her tendency to have emotional outbursts-where are the lines?

Judy Woodruff: Notice how older female journalists tend to have bangs? It's a trick to conceal forehead wrinkles. But with her suspiciously youthful and tight face, Judy Woodruff may have had more than a trip to the hairdresser.

Lesley Stahl: While her "60 Minutes" colleague Andy Rooney gets more wrinkled and curmudgeonly each week, Lesley Stahl never seems to age a day. According to a New York Times article, Stahl's mother advised her to get a facelift when she was 39. But did she get one? Enquiring minds want to know.

Sam Donaldson: Firstly, there's no way that hair is real. Sam Donaldson has that slightly creepy, frozen face that bad cosmetic surgery can sometimes result in. Our money's on Botox and an eye lift.
