GentleYag: The New Laser Revolution

The GentleYag is an FDA approved laser treatment which can be used for hair removal and skin tightening as well as for the treatment of veins and wrinkles. Unlike other laser procedures, the GentleYag treats all skin types, making it appropriate for even the lightest or darkest of complexions. If you’re looking for smoother, clearer looking skin, but you're not quite ready to go under the knife, the GentleYag is an appealing alternative.

GentleYag laser treatment works by transferring heat to the skin’s deepest layers. Simply put, the laser creates injury below the epidermis, creating a healing response in the upper dermis and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

The GentleYag laser is not just effective for tightening the skin on your face and neck, it also improves acne scars, and can reduce both red and white stretch marks. The GentleYag laser is also used to tighten loose skin on the arms, knees, legs and abdomen after liposuction.

Although some patients report improvement just a few days after treatment, optimum results are usually visible in 4-6 weeks. If necessary, a second or third treatment may be recommended at 6 week intervals.

The GentleYag laser treatment will take place in the office of your practitioner. To begin, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area that is being treated. You will wait for approximately 45 minutes while this takes effect. The practitioner will then give you safety eyewear to protect your eyes. Following this, the practitioner guides the laser using a small handheld probe, each laser pulse being preceded and followed by a patented cooling spray. The entire treatment can last for just a few minutes to as long as an hour. Minimal discomfort is reported.

Unlike plastic surgery, the GentleYag is relatively affordable. A full-face skin tightening treatment costs between $500 - $750. Furthermore, the GentleYag is non-invasive, has no down time, and creates little or no redness or swelling.
