25 Extra Pounds May Be Healthier Longterm

While some scientists are telling us to lay off the sugary treats, a new government study says eh! Don't worry about being 25 pounds overweight. In fact, having a little extra weight actually seems to help people survive some illnesses.

The new report analyzed data looking at the specific causes of death in 2004 for 2.3 million US adults. The study, appearing in the Journal of the American Medical Association analyzed the body-mass index of people who died from various diseases. Being overweight significantly decreased death from non-cancer, non-cardio vascular diseases.

You know what? I think I will have the cheesecake after all.

But of course the study showed it's not all good news. Overweight people generally have a higher chance of dying from diabetes and kidney disease.

Ok, just a little sliver then.
